Bayeux

Well, what can we say? The tapestry is amazing, but it took while to find it. The sat nav was determined to send us down a tiny cul de sac, then when we eventually parked, the signs round the town were the worst we had ever seen.  However, it was worth it. 70 metres of vivid depictions -it just seems  to go on and on, and the detail is breathtaking.

Bayeux Cathedral is good too: there is a gargoyle of a man with a really impressive beard down to his knees. When we bought a postcard of it in the shop, the lady pointed to Geoff`'s beard, and said he's still got some work to do!

We found a Salon de Thé (fancy tea shop): it was almost like stepping back to 1850 with its chandeliers, marble pillars, and waitresses in lacy pinnies, etc. The selection of fancy cakes and gateaux were like works of art. it took almost as long to decide what to have, as to eat it when it arrived.
